At about 10:30am people park their cars and trot through the hot sand with towels and beach chairs in hand. It’s easy to find because we have a couple of easy-up canopy’s and we’re near lifeguard stand #20.

As people sip coffee and chew their bagel they will either meet and talk with others or take a stroll down to the water and relax. The kids have their own area about 50 yards from the adults with sand toys and other fun things. The older kids play volleyball, horseshoes, washers, frisbee or just head straight for the waves.

At 11am I invite the adults to grab their chair and get comfortable for a 30 min. talk that is usually interactive (all voluntary of course). After the talk I throw out a question and give you the opportunity to turn in groups of 3-4 and discuss the question for 2 minutes or 2 hours...it’s up to the group. Believe it or not, the 2 hour option has happened many times.

By 11:45 some people are packing up to leave and others are rubbing on the sun screen for a fun day at the beach. At 2pm we begin breaking down the easy-ups and packing the cars. It’s simple, relaxing, engaging and for many they learn something new about God or themselves that really  energizes them.

P.S. don’t forget to pack a lunch, there is no food within walking distance and once you give up your parking, it might take 10 minutes to get another one.

A typical Sunday
